In Athens, experience all the ancient sites as well as the unique food scene, the blossoming street art, the famous land marks and the vibrant shops and markets before arriving in Santorini, famed for its quaint whitewashed villages hugging the cliffs overlooking the caldera.
In Santorini, you will have plenty of time to relax and explore independently but first we include a stunning walking tour with a picnic, a catamaran cruise on the caldera with swimming and lunch as well as an opportunity to discover the unique agricultural scene on Santorini, taste traditional wines and learn to cook like a local!
Day 1: Today you arrive at Athens International. You will be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel for two nights. Spend some time exploring the local area or relax and refresh at your hotel after your journey.
This evening head out into the city under a starry Athenian sky to discover the beauty of this ancient city in the company of your very own local expert guide during an inclusive Athens by night tour and dinner. Marvel at iconic illuminated landmarks such as the Parthenon Temple, the Theatre of Herodus Atticus, Agios Pagos and the Acropolis Museum.
After taking in the atmosphere of Athens by night it’s time to be part of it! Immerse yourself in the vibrant alleys of Psyrri, home to traditional cafés, bars and restaurants, plus our favorite local places! Indulge in akomelo – a traditional sweet and hot drink and savouring authentic Greek mezedes.
Day 2: Today a personal guide introduces you to the best experiences that Athens has to offer: the quality products in hidden-away shops, the local cuisine, the blossoming street-art scene, and the famous city landmarks. In the company of an experienced and highly competent “insider” tour leader, this tour will take you around the traditional areas of Plaka and Monastiraki, as well as more modern ones.. The afternoon and evening is at leisure for you to explore independently.
Day 3: This morning, after a transfer to Athens airport, board your flight to Santorini. The flight is fairly short, approximately one hour in duration. Upon arrival you’ll be met and transferred to luxury accommodations for the next six evenings. Enjoy dinner at the hotel or one of the many nearby restaurants.
Day 4: After breakfast, a unique experience awaits with an orientation of Oia. This walking tour of Santorini is for those who love exploring . Visit the secret spots of Santorini away from the hustle and bustle, walking through ancient paths and picturesque cobblestone alleys. View the famous caldera, taste amazing volcanic wines, explore whitewashed villages and castles, and take in the amazing scenery. This walking tour will give you the opportunity to enjoy amazing views, learn about Santorini’s rich history, and visit some of the wonderful little known spots of the greater Oia area.
Day 5: Today you have a full day at leisure on Santorini. Head for one of the beaches, rent a jeep or quad bike or simply explore the winding lanes and streets and discover your own tavernas.
Day 6: Enjoy a lazy morning before departing early afternoon for a day of local adventure. Begin in Megalochori, a beautiful traditional village. Walk through the “kadounia”, stone pathways forming a maze, where you can feel the authentic island vibe of the island, away from the tourist masses. There we will spot the “Canaves” traditional wine cellars where the wine is pressed and stored. Stop at Canava Gavalas, a small scale family run winery. Your gastronomical experience begins with tasting four varieties of Santorinian wines accompanied with local delicacies such as Greek cheeses and oven baked bread.
Anydro Farm has a series of traditional caves accessed by a dirt road. You will hand pick local products and be offered a master class in how to prepare some traditional seasonal dishes. The last stop is Venetsanos Winery Pyrgos. Drink a glass of Venetsanos wine overlooking the sun radiating breathtaking sunset colors over the famous caldera and volcanic bay. What an end to a day!
Day 7: When finished breakfast, descend to sea level for a unique day experience on the ocean. A day cruise begins with a stop at the Red Beach for a refreshing swim. Explore the unmanned volcanic beaches with their spectacular colors or just sunbath on the deck. As you journey to the hot springs, feel the energy of the Volcano and the spirit of the island. The next stop is Thirassia Island, a fishermen’ s island, which is ideal for swimming, snorkeling and admiring the unique view of Manolas village. A delicious lunch with wine and dessert is served on board.
Day 8: Sadly after breakfast it will be time to check out of your hotel for your transfer to Santorini Airport. Fly to Athens with an onward connection home.
